He is best known as the founder of ComplyAdvantage, the AI-driven financial-crime detection platform he started in 2014 after an unexpected stint as a money-laundering reporting officer at his previous company. ComplyAdvantage now serves regulated institutions across North America, Europe, and Asia from offices in London, New York, Singapore, Lisbon and Cluj, and remains the core of his working life as Executive Chairman.
Before that, at twenty-three, he co-founded MarketFinance (now Kriya), one of the first European marketplaces for invoice and working-capital finance, and served as its inaugural CEO. And before that — at sixteen, from a laptop at school — he founded The Student Room Group, still the largest student discussion forum in the world.
In the years between, he read Politics at Trinity College, Cambridge; took an MSc in Management, Strategy & Finance at the LSE; and spent time as an investment banker at J.P. Morgan Cazenove covering technology, media and telecoms.
Today, alongside ComplyAdvantage, he maintains an active angel portfolio of 195 companies concentrated in fintech, compliance, SaaS, and applied AI — with a few well-placed bets in biotech and climate. He writes occasionally, chairs and advises, and introduces founders to the operators and investors most likely to help them.
